Unlimited campaign spending is the great crack in the foundation of our democracy;it is a legal form of corruption. And I am running to end it. Until we repair this crack, we, the people, remain incapable of meaningfully addressing any of the issues challenging our common good today. So long as our politicians may be bought, their policies will be purchased by the highest bidders. But if we want to take money out of politics, we need to start electing people who reject money in politics. That is what I am doing. I am not raising and spending millions of dollars. Instead, I am raising only what I need to canvass the state and engage with voters where they live and work. I do not just talk about taking money out of politics. I walk the walk. As Abraham Lincoln knew in his own time, “The tired dogmas of the quiet past are inadequate for the stormy present… We must think anew and act anew.” To reform our democracy, we need to blaze a new path to electoral success. We need to think anew, and act anew. That is why I am running.
